Psychiatric Technician, CF, Pleasant Valley State Prison, Coalinga

Duties

• Organizes and provides a basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in various correctional health care settings.
• Ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the delegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
• Provides support to the care team for daily health care operations.
• Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team.
• Addresses the ongoing needs of patients and works with the members of the larger health care team.
• Promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Qualifications

• Current California State License as a Psychiatric Technician (Safety).
• Completion of a recognized program in psychiatric technician training.
• One year of experience in a correctional facility setting.
• Knowledge of mental health principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to perform basic nursing tasks and follow established protocols.

Benefits

This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent.

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

Hours of work: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
