Shift Description

Position Purpose: Develop individualized plans of care for patients, outlining their goals and expected outcomes. Use exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment to ease pain, help increase mobility, prevent further pain or injury, and facilitate health and wellness.

What You Will Do

• Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury.
• Familiarize yourself with government regulations for PT practice in an outpatient setting and understand how they apply to managing patient care, specifically for the OP Therapy Cap and Claims-Based Outcomes Reporting (i.e. G codes).
• Flexibility in working in several clinical locations (hospital-based clinical setting and satellite clinics in the community).
• Administer manual exercises, massage, and/or traction to help relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling.
• Discharge patients from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
• Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
• Inform patients when diagnosis reveals findings outside their scope and refer to an appropriate practitioner.
• Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
• Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer.
• Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy is required.

Experience & Skills

• New Grads and Experienced PT's welcome
• Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Florida is required
• Preferred Neurologic rehab experience/NCS certification/Neurologic residency
• GCS/Geriatric Certification
• Vestibular experience/and or certification
• Lymphedema Certification
