Phlebotomy Team Lead - Inpatient

About the role

Salem Hospital is seeking a motivated and positive Phlebotomy Lead to work Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Occasional weekend shifts may be required based on business needs and staffing.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily support to a subsection of the phlebotomy team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to practice standards.
• Offers instruction and guidance, high-level problem solving, and operational tasks as delegated.
• Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Oversees daily activities of phlebotomists and students, focusing on safe patient care and satisfaction.
• Captures workflow to ensure timely collection of specimens and staff deployment or coverage.
• Serves as a technical expert for all collection procedures and assists with difficult draws, research kits, and special procedures.
• Signs off on technical training of new staff and annual competency documentation.
• Aids the manager or supervisor in implementing schedule changes, monitors staff absences, and provides input on improvements or proposed policy changes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, or an Associate's Degree in Phlebotomy preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy required, with 3-5 years of experience.
• Phlebotomy Technician National Certification required.
• Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License preferred.
