Position Highlights

Position: Phlebotomist Lead
Location: Elmhurst Hospital 155 E. Brush Hill Road Elmhurst IL.
Alternate Locations: Will assist with coverage at off-site locations
Full Time 1.0 (40 hrs. week)
Hours: 6am-2:30pm or 7am-3:30pm; Includes every other Saturday and occasional Sundays and holidays
On-call: On call for scheduled weekends

What You Will Do

  • Actively promotes patient satisfaction and customer service values with all staff members.
  • Treats patients with respect and caring.
  • Follows up and resolves patient complaints.
  • Instructs and encourages coworkers to treat patients and hospital staff courteously.
  • Enhances the laboratory’s image by reacting positively with all customers.
  • Captures and analyzes data for the lab.
  • Serves on the Quality Improvement committee as needed.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • American Heart Association CPR BLS
  • Valid drivers license and Auto Insurance
  • Minimum six months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience

About the Role

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, prepares, collects, logs and labels specimens for testing. Registers patient information and orders laboratory tests in the computer system. Arranges specimens for further processing by Laboratory staff. Orients and provides training to Lab Processing Tech and Phlebotomy students. Coordinates staff continuing education.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • American Heart Association CPR BLS
  • Valid drivers license and Auto Insurance
  • Minimum six months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures

Pay

The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
