Job Summary and Qualifications
- Supports the mission of HCA Healthcare by optimizing the quality of life of all those served.
- Responsible for the efficient organization and effectiveness of the Laboratory Specimen Desk, Reception Area, and specimen procurement.
- Integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency related to the Laboratory Department.
- Show strong leadership and good interpersonal skills.
- Have strong computer skills, be detail oriented, and be well organized.
- Provide services addressing age-related techniques in specimen obtainment and care focusing on neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations.
- Answer the telephone, answer questions regarding specimen collection and time elements, interface with other hospitals, departments, physicians, medical offices, and reference laboratories, obtain blood specimens, provide quality service, and perform general laboratory duties.
- Shift: 5 pm - 3 AM (negotiable 3-5 PM start time to 1-3 AM end time) AND rotating weekends.
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant Phlebotomy or MLT Certification preferred but not required.
- One year experience in a hospital laboratory.
- Ability to draw blood with precision and comfort for the age of all patients to be served including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, children, pre-school, toddlers, and infants.
- Ability to prioritize test results and communicate results.
- Ability to use computer to enter and locate specimens and test results, follow up on any problems locating samples or results.
- Ability to address billing questions and problems.
- Ability to train and monitor Lab Assistants' performance of essential tasks.
Position Requirements
