About the role
The PSR II – Site Lead represents the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
- Administer oral solutions as per established training.
- Research and confirm test/client information using lab technology systems or directories.
- Complete data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test order entry, and standing order management.
- Enter billing information and collect payments when necessary, ensuring asset and credit card security.
- Data entry and specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required.
- Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory management, and answering phones.
- Comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, including safety manuals and compliance guidelines.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials during venipuncture, ensuring proper labeling and accuracy.
- Compile and submit monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
- Complete training courses and stay updated with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
- Travel to Territory Manager meetings if off-site or outside normal shifts.
- Participate in special projects and teams.
- Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer issues, document problems, and report critical issues.
- Ensure staff follows safety precautions by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Implement and maintain SOPs for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in good condition and report necessary repairs.
- Assist with scheduling and inventory counts.
- Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, providing guidance and support.
Requirements
- Three years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record.
- Physical abilities to lift light to moderately heavy objects, sit or stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and handle multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including Company dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Quest Diagnostics Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
- Effective communication in English.
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Decisive decision-making based on established procedures.
