About the role
The Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) supports the provider care team by providing laboratory support mechanisms, including accurate, timely, and effective reports, data, and scheduling functions. This role requires excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy's Signature Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Accurately acquire all required types of specimens as needed for laboratory testing.
- Utilize safe, accurate, and effective methodologies for laboratory testing under the supervision of a licensed professional.
- Adhere to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies during specimen collection and testing.
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by maintaining a professional demeanor and addressing customer needs effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience, or successful completion of a clinical training program.
Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of specific facility competencies, including but not limited to a checklist, written examination, management observation, etc.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and testing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and laboratory safety protocols.
