About the Role

Kindred Hospital Denver and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is an all-private room 68-bed hospital located on one of Denver’s important medical campuses, just east of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. With 68 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds, we offer in-depth care for an extended recovery period. Our 13-bed ARU is designed for individuals recovering from acute injury, impairment, or illness. We partner with your physician and provide 24-hour clinical care seven days a week to support your journey to wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Collects blood specimens from patients via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders and applicable regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing.
  • Explains collection procedures and provides general testing information to facilitate patient understanding and reduce anxiety.
  • Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures, and files paperwork.
  • Cleans and supplies venipuncture trays and maintains work areas.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Utilizes the laboratory information system to document specimen collection, receipt, create manifests, and perform other functions as needed.
  • Performs clerical work and assists in laboratory functions as delegated by the Laboratory Manager/Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Formal phlebotomy training as required by state.
  • Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • State license/registration as required by state.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Six (6) months of acute care phlebotomy experience or one (1) year of experience as a medical assistant performing venipuncture or one (1) year of outpatient lab experience preferred.
  • Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Knowledgeable about which color top tube to use and the volume of blood needed for test requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

Pay

$18.40 - $27.60/hour
