About the Role

Utilizes phlebotomy skills for collection of patient samples. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital. Promotes a supportive environment that encourages collegiality. Computer processing of patient specimens before and after collection. Processes and distributes patient reports.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist.
  • Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan.
  • Displays courteous behavior and cooperative relationships with customers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (a year of previous experience preferred).
  • Must be able to exhibit ability to collect samples from every age group with skill.
  • Basic computer skills and communication ability needed.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
  • Wide variety of circumstances possible (accident, injuries and illness).
  • Has available protective gear necessary for performance of task without risk of exposure.
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular work hours, and pressure due to multiple phone calls and inquiries from doctors and nurses.
