Phlebotomist
About the Role
Join TriHealth as a Phlebotomist at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, OH. In this role, you’ll collect high-quality specimens from patients of all ages, support diagnostic testing, and serve as a vital link between the laboratory and our customers. You’ll also assist with order entry, compliance documentation, and specimen processing to ensure timely and accurate results.
Responsibilities
- Procure quality specimens from adult, geriatric, pediatric, and infant patients for diagnostic testing according to CLIA, TJC, and CAP guidelines.
- Perform EKGs on outpatients as needed.
- Make and receive telephone calls to/from customers, gather data for service and billing, answer questions, and resolve issues.
- Complete documentation to meet OIG compliance guidelines, including accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry.
- Receive incoming specimens, enter patient demographics and test orders using LIS/HIS systems, label specimens, and distribute them to the proper lab departments for testing.
- Ensure specimen integrity by obtaining patient identification, accurate data, and proper collection.
- Document all information as required in expected timeframes.
- Take on complex tasks and initiative when needed, following processes and protocols for safety, confidentiality, and sample integrity.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 - 2 years' Experience in Phlebotomy (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Trained Upon Hire (Preferred)
Working Conditions
This role involves physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, and occasional climbing or kneeling. It requires consistent concentration, interpersonal communication, and visual acuity. The position also involves working with laboratory equipment and systems.
Schedule
Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly, day shift with weekend and holiday rotation.
