About the role
Ten Broeck Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing is a 258-bed facility recognized throughout the Hudson Valley for outstanding subacute and long-term care. The Phlebotomist draws blood, tags each sample, and coordinates with the lab to ensure proper delivery for each resident. The role includes delivering excellent customer service, answering resident questions, and strengthening resident relationships. The Phlebotomist also performs lab work for employees as needed.
Responsibilities
- Collect and tag specimens exactly as outlined in each medical requisition
- Develop effective collection techniques for the resident population
- Properly package each specimen and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory
- Maintain an organized and clean work area per state health laws and organizational guidelines
- Answer patient questions regarding collection techniques and provide additional resources when requested
- Ensure safety of residents at all times
- Tactfully interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public
- Report all cases of alleged mistreatment, neglect, abuse, or injuries of unknown sources
- Perform tasks and responsibilities of the assigned shift
- Assist with resident transportation to and from activities as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state phlebotomy certification
- Experience practicing phlebotomy
- Prior long-term care experience preferred
