Phlebotomist

Represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. Draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. Has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. Demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Verify patient demographic information, including patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including company dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations, including covering at Patient Service Centers or In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Must demonstrate superior customer focus, ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, and knowledge of business operations.
• Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.

Schedule

Eastern Time Zone, Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–5:15 PM, with rotational Saturdays.
