We have an exciting opportunity for you to join LewisGale Hospital Pulaski, part of HCA Healthcare, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services.

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski has provided quality healthcare services since 1915. Located in Pulaski, Virginia, our 140+ bed hospital is one of the leading acute care facilities in Southwest Virginia and New River Valley. As a member of the LewisGale Regional Health System network, we provide a full scope of healthcare services. Our hospital is home to the LewisGale Regional Cancer Center Pulaski, the first medical facility in the region to provide a radioactive seed implant procedure—a radiation therapy alternative for treating breast and prostate cancer. We specialize in orthopedics and are an accredited chest pain center.

Responsibilities

• Collect appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture using proper technique.
• Receive other specimens and collect timed blood specimens.
• Keep blood collection workload on track to avoid delays and prioritize specimen collections appropriately.
• Deliver blood specimens to work sections in a timely manner.
• Centrifuge specimens as appropriate.
• Enter outpatient orders into the LIS system and collect specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from drop box, receive them, answer phone calls, review outpatient requisitions, fax reports, and file documents.
• Stock supplies as needed.
• Perform EKGs on outpatients and submit printouts to the Respiratory department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Phlebotomy or hospital experience (preferred).
• Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
• BLS certification from an approved agency required within 90 days of hire.
