Responsibilities

  • Help patients and co-workers perform blood collection and specimen processing, assisting with clerical duties as requested
  • Maintain laboratory collection turnaround time and ensure accurate specimen processing
  • Practice positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions
  • Possess excellent customer service and time management skills
  • Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures
  • Follow blood collection procedures, perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups, utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples, and adhere to appropriate volume requirements
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms
  • Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions
  • Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments
  • Perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations. Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements
  • Accelerate critical laboratory turnaround times through expert specimen processing, efficiently handle essential clerical duties, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where your precision and efficiency directly contribute to saving lives and advancing medical understanding

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills
  • American Heart Association BLS Provider certification within 90 days

Preferred

  • Phlebotomy certificate
  • Three (3) months of phlebotomy in an acute care facility
