Job Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for executing the plasmapheresis process by performing venipunctures. This individual ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, maintains high levels of customer service, and manages equipment and supplies.

Ensures Compliance

• Maintains compliance with FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP
• Monitors and reports unsafe situations and conditions to management

Customer Service and Donor Experience

• Maintains cleanliness of work area
• Maintains donor confidentiality
• Reviews and confirms donor identification
• Maintains high level of customer service and positive donor experience

Equipment and Supplies

• Prepares all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedure
• Labs and ensures accurate labeling of units and samples
• Maintains proper inventory and replenishes supplies on plasma carts

Phlebotomy Tasks

• Executes venipunctures and plasma collection
• Operates automated plasmapheresis machines
• Monitors donor conditions and manages disposal of biohazard waste
• Maintains and calibrates automated plasmapheresis machines
• Maintains accurate documentation of records

Training and Support

• Mentors Phlebotomist I
• Trains and supports new employees
• Partners with Quality Assurance on overall Donor Floor performance

Physical Requirements

• Sit or stand for extended periods
• Lift up to thirty-five pounds
• Bend, stoop, or kneel
• Utilize all required PPE
• Enter an environment with a temperature of -40°C
• Perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills
• Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication
