Job Summary

This role is responsible for executing the plasmapheresis process by performing venipunctures. This includes ensuring operations comply with state and federal regulations, maintaining high levels of customer service, and managing equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain total operation compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP)
• Maintain cleanliness and organize work areas, stock supplies, report unsafe situations, and perform inventory tasks
• Review and confirm donor identification, monitor conditions, and uphold confidentiality
• Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures
• Execute venipunctures and plasma collection, maintaining quality and safety standards
• Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, troubleshoot alerts, document exceptions, and manage adverse events
• Disconnect donors and manage biohazard waste disposal, including cleaning spills and handling contaminated equipment
• Maintain accurate documentation of necessary records, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs
• Mentor and train team members as a Designated Trainer
• Participate in routine and periodic equipment calibrations and maintenance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or healthcare environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties before performing duties independently

• Basic computer knowledge and skills
• Able to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
• Able to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
• Able to perform venipuncture
• Able to collaborate and adapt

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel
• Ability to utilize all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
• Ability to view video display terminals less than 18” away from face for extended periods
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle
