Philanthropy Writer - MUSC Foundation
Responsibilities
- Researching, gathering information/data, and interviewing key stakeholders for the purpose of identifying philanthropic priorities across the Medical University of South Carolina.
- Writing both templated and customized proposals for philanthropic support, translating complex research and medical terms into easy-to-understand dialogue.
- Writing content (i.e., newsletter/e-newsletter articles, emails, etc.) that demonstrate the impact of philanthropy on the university’s mission and lives of the people served by that mission.
- Writing letters and reports to promote and maintain positive relationships with key donors and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, journalism, or related field.
- A minimum of 4+ years’ experience in journalism, fundraising, philanthropy or related fields, preferably in academic medicine and/or public health.
- Proven work experience writing philanthropic proposals, newsletter/magazine articles, e-newsletters, personal correspondences and similar communication vehicles.
- Experience with Canva/Adobe and PowerPoint preferred.
- Results-oriented and flexible to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess outstanding problem-solving, analytical, and research skills.
- Keen eye for details and an obsession for accuracy.
- Ability to gather and organize information.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Outstanding analytical, writing and editing skills.
- Ability to navigate ASANA or similar project-management tools.
