Job Summary

The Supervisor of Pharmacy Techs manages daily operations at an assigned site. Plans, organizes, supervises, and helps with daily activities of non-pharmacist staff. Essential Functions Of The Role Supervises day-to-day activities to ensure efficient Pharmacy operations.
Reinforces and monitors performance expectations.
Safeguards services are timely, accurate, effective, and cost-effective.
Complies with established policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies.
Develops cooperative working relationships with Pharmacists, Nurses and other Medical staff.
Initiates medication error reports as necessary, provides input and follows up in a timely approach.
Effectively coordinates and administers policies and procedures. This includes selection, orientation, training, assignment, staffing, evaluation, discipline, and discharging employees.
All actions comply with applicable employment regulations.

Key Success Factors

  • Experienced knowledge of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, drug use and aseptic techniques, standards and equipment.
  • Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
  • Able to sort, check, count and verify numbers.
  • Able to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and isolation practices and procedures at all times.
  • Excellent social skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Able to make tactical judgments on allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Able to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
  • General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications

  • Education: H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Experience: 3 Years of Experience
  • Certification/License/Registration: Pharmacy Technician (PHT): Pharmacy Tech license through the TX Board of Pharmacy.
