Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented pharmacy technician to join our expanding team of sterile compounding experts and play a pivotal role in delivering lifesaving home infusion services. As a key member of our team, this position is responsible for the handling, preparation, compounding, and distribution of medications, as well as maintaining the integrity of our sterile compounding suite. Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, and preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
- Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, deliver supplies, and maintain records.
- Distribute supplies and may assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions.
- Work with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
- Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in/graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
- Absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
- Strong mathematical calculation skills.
- Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
- Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
- Ability to learn and execute customer service skills.
- Basic proficiency in typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
