Pharmacy Technician Specialist - Outpatient Retail

This role supports various pharmacy operations, including prescription order entry, claim adjudication, medication preparation and dispensing, medication distribution, non-sterile and sterile compounding, inventory management, and the use of automated pharmacy devices and equipment. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist also handles controlled substances, patient communication, and maintains assigned areas. Additionally, the role assesses the age-specific needs of patients and ensures all duties are performed in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital, as well as state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescription order entry and claim adjudication
• Prepare and dispense medications
• Manage medication distribution and inventory
• Conduct non-sterile and sterile compounding
• Operate and maintain automated pharmacy devices and equipment
• Handle controlled substances
• Communicate with patients
• Maintain assigned work areas
• Assess age-specific needs of patients
• Ensure compliance with Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, and values, as well as state and federal regulations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Registered Pharmacy Technician
• Certification or completion of a professionally recognized training program in a related specialty area
• Minimum of three years of experience in a relevant practice setting
• Proficiency in systems and tools commonly used in the practice setting

Schedule

• Full-time
• Day shift
• 8-hour shifts that vary between 6am–8:30pm

Pay

Minimum salary: $20.76 per hour
