Pharmacy Technician, PACE

This position is for the PACE pharmacy at Jordan Valley Health (JVH), a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and families in underserved communities. About the role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for the computer data entry of prescriptions and filling of patient medication orders, including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities/duties required by the pharmacy as defined by the scope of service to ensure patient needs are addressed.
• Assist patients dropping off or picking up prescription orders; may assist with deliveries.
• Update patient pharmacy profiles, including demographic, health, and insurance information.
• Maintain a working knowledge of legal requirements for drug distribution and stay informed on recent developments in pharmacy (via conferences, meetings, and seminars).
• Maintain accurate and proper patient medication profiles.
• Interpret physician medication orders for accuracy and enter prescription orders into the computer.
• Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization.
• Ensure correct dispensing and labeling of medication prior to pharmacist verification.
• Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
• Verify that patients receive the correct prescriptions at point of sale and offer pharmacist counseling.
• Assist with periodic medication orders to wholesalers, stocking shelves, and verifying associated paperwork.
• Assist with pharmacy inventory.
• Support the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations.
• Assist other pharmacy technicians.
• Maintain knowledge of loss prevention techniques.
• Stay updated on daily pharmacy staff projects.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Required Qualifications:
  • State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Minimum one year of pharmacy experience.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician.
