Pharmacy Technician Operation Specialist

About the role

This role assists with preparing daily work reports, conducting safety and quality assurance audits, and participating in inventory management and control. It involves monitoring overall performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform risk assessments of medication-related matters and provide pharmacy-related knowledge and support to clinicians.
  • Makes recommendations to managers regarding improvements to operating procedures or safe medication practices.
  • Audits medication storage areas using data collection tools, participates in inter-disciplinary tracers and surveillance rounds, and briefs area leadership on opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversees and participates in automated dispensing cabinet optimization, medication repackaging, and addresses system issues related to electronic healthcare systems and pharmacy-specific hardware and software.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, and an Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A Pharmacy Technician [State License] is required, along with a Pharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • A Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician [CSPT] certification from the PTCB is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of pharmacy technician experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient with standard PC software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of pharmacy information and inventory systems.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
  • Ability to manage several priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $25.13 - / Grade 6. Any offer extended will take into account your skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a day shift.
