About the role

Under direction from the Pharmacist-in-Charge and other pharmacists in the Specialty Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician I is primarily responsible for assisting the pharmacist in obtaining all the necessary information for dispensing and adjudicating a medication correctly. The main objective is to answer phone calls and contact doctors and patients via fax, phone, or other communication means. The Pharmacy Technician I is also responsible for accurately translating prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing software and may assist with selecting medication, attaching prescription labels, and packaging dispensed medication for final pharmacist verification.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Contact doctors to obtain necessary prescription information to properly fill a prescription
  • Manage queues and prioritize oldest orders first
  • Ensure correct shipment of specialty pharmacy orders
  • Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals, including ordering, receipt, verification, and stocking of supplies
  • Act in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and ethical standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) preferred
  • National CPhT and/or state registration/licensure required per residing state’s requirements
  • Minimum two years of pharmacy support experience or healthcare environment experience preferred
  • Ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
  • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives

Pay

USD $20.19 - USD $23.75 per year

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
