About the role
The Pharmacy Technician I provides technical and operational assistance to the Pharmacy Department in the preparation, checking, distribution and procurement of pharmaceuticals. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical and operational assistance to the Pharmacy Department in the preparation, checking, distribution and procurement of pharmaceuticals.
- Supports interdisciplinary teams providing a wide range of support and care to a diverse group of patients and families.
- Ensures safe, accurate, and timely medication management for patients.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support each patient's wellbeing.
- Supports medication preparation, dispensing accuracy, inventory management, and medication distribution processes in alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment.
- Works independently and collaboratively across teams and sites as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program or recognized equivalent required.
- Active registration with Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) required.
- Recent experience in a community, hospital, or centralized medication preparation setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Demonstrated experience supporting medication preparation, dispensing accuracy, inventory management, and medication distribution processes in alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Qualifications

Skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience using Epic, with familiarity in Connect Care workflows supporting medication order processing and pharmacy operations.
- Experience with Kroll, AutoMed or other pharmacy automation and dispensing technologies.
- Experience supporting medication distribution to healthcare facilities such as hospitals or care centers.
