Pharmacy Technician

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician is an integral member of the Department of Pharmacy. Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists in preparation, dispensation, and inventory management of all medications and supplies in the Department of Pharmacy. The role involves working independently and cooperatively with members of the Department of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Materials to provide safe, accurate, and timely delivery of medications to patients. The Pharmacy Technician utilizes Pharmacy automation systems and the electronic health record (EHR) and follows documentation requirements as mandated by law, regulation, and departmental policy.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and triages Pharmacy communications
• Prepares medication for dispensation from the Pharmacy
• Participates in maintaining inventory management and proper recordkeeping
• Delivers medication to appropriate units or automated dispensing machines
• Maintains the integrity of all medication received, stored, prepared, or dispensed from the Pharmacy
• Ability to be at work and be on time
• Follows company policies, procedures, and directives
• Interacts in a positive and constructive manner
• Prioritizes and multitasks effectively

Requirements

• Current California Registered Pharmacy Technician license (required)
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting (preferred)
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in compounded sterile products preparation and procedures (preferred)
• Graduated from a Pharmacy Technician Training Program (preferred)
• Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certificate (preferred)

Pay

Pay range: $27.80/hr. - $40.32/hr. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
