About the role

Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists with compounding and dispensing medical prescriptions and may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. The position requires familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Pharmacy and relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Pharmacist:
  • Accurately fill and distribute medications to nursing units in a timely and accurate fashion as evidenced by lack of complaints or errors.
  • Correctly prepare and label unit-dose medications for distribution to nursing units as evidenced by documentation in the unit-dose logbook.
  • Correctly prepare and label compounded medications for distribution to nursing units as evidenced by documentation in the compounding logbook.
  • Review product expiration dates as evidenced by lack of expired medications in stock area.
  • Review and order medications as evidenced by documentation in want book.
  • Stock received medications in the designated area.
  • Accurately dispense/return controlled medications to Narcotic Vault 100% of the time as evidenced by reports.
• Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Perform basic cash register operations in outpatient pharmacy as evidenced by end day report.
  • Enter account payments in the system correctly to ensure accounts receivable is accurate and up to date.
  • Collect funds properly and ensure deposit is in agreement with the daily sales report 100% of the time.
  • Provide assistance on projects as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma
• Louisiana/Mississippi Board of Pharmacy Technician Certificate
• Per Pharmacy Certification requirements (training)
