About the role

Pharmacy Technician II, Full-time, Brattleboro, Vermont. Job Code: 169, FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt, Department: Pharmacy.

Assists pharmacists in the procurement, preparation, dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional and regulatory standards and practices. The pharmacy is responsible for the purchasing, storage, preparation, distribution and control of all drugs used in the hospital. In addition, pharmacists, assisted by pharmacy technicians, are responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients by assuring safe and effective drug therapy.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with procurement, preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications.
• Support purchasing, storage, preparation, distribution, and control of hospital drugs.
• Help provide pharmaceutical care to ensure safe and effective drug therapy.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent; competent math skills; typing, filing, manual dexterity.
• Experience: 3‑4 years healthcare pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of drug names and computer skills required.
• Prior experience with Pyxis (or similar automatic dispensing cabinet) and MAK (computerized medication administration) desired.
• Licensure/Certification: Registered by the State of Vermont and PTCB Certification.

Skills

• Manual dexterity.
• Proficiency with office equipment, computer, telephone, copier, telefax.
• Ability to use laminar flow hood, biological safety cabinet, and barrio isolator.
• Corrected vision within normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and tolerate some exposure to hazardous products.
• Knowledge of cytotoxic drug exposure risks.
• Understanding of OSHA Category I requirements and universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens.

Pay

Salary Description: $21.00‑$24.99 per hour.

In accordance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
