Pay

• Pharmacy Tech I: $17.80 – $24.04 per hour
• Pharmacy Tech II: $19.27 – $27.94 per hour
• Up to $2,000 sign-on bonus (Tech I) or up to $5,000 sign-on bonus (Tech II), based on relevant experience
• $2.00 shift differential if applicable

About the role

This position is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in preparing all pharmaceutical dosage forms, except those prepared by the IV Trained technician and those dosages requiring the specialized skills of the pharmacist. The position prepares dosage forms and prescriptions to the point of "final check" approval by the pharmacist and prepares patient medication safely and effectively in addition to maintaining the drug inventory and patient records; under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. All duties are carried out only by a registered pharmacist. This position is responsible for distributing medications throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in preparing pharmaceutical dosage forms
• Prepare dosage forms and prescriptions to the point of final check approval by pharmacist
• Prepare patient medication safely and effectively
• Maintain drug inventory and patient records
• Distribute medications throughout the organization

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Computational skills are a must
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Illinois registration as a Pharmacy Technician
• Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent (unless exempted by the state of Illinois due to Grandfathering)

Preferred:

• Completion of Pharmacy Technician Training Course
• Prior training and experience in pharmacy, particularly hospital pharmacy admixture program
