About the Role

Option Care Health, Inc. is the largest independent home and alternate site infusion services provider in the United States, with over 8,000 team members including 5,000 clinicians. We are seeking a Pharmacy Manager to plan, organize, direct, and provide safe and appropriate pharmacy services to our patients in accordance with company policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves coordinating patient services with nursing, delivery, and reimbursement departments, managing budgets, purchasing, and inventory control, and ensuring the security of all drug products and medical supplies. The Pharmacy Manager will assist the Operations Director in meeting operational and financial goals while fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Determine suitability of patients for home care.
  • Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care provided by pharmacy staff.
  • Manage daily activities to ensure effective operations and communications within the pharmacy department.
  • Direct the activities of the pharmacy department and schedule staff to meet patient pharmaceutical-care needs.
  • Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, training, open communication, and performance management.
  • Oversee product purchasing, inventory, budget, and equipment management.
  • Assist the General Manager in preparing, securing approval for, and implementing operating and expenditure budgets.
  • Evaluate and oversee the purchase, management, and security of medications, pumps, and medical supplies in accordance with company policies and formulary guidelines.
  • Provide support to sales professionals and the General Manager by accurately communicating the scope of services available through Option Care.
  • Educate managed care organizations and other accounts about available services.
  • Serve as the Office Administrator in the absence of the General Manager, alongside the Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager.
  • Collect and organize patient-specific information to prevent, detect, and resolve medication-related problems and make appropriate therapy recommendations.
  • Monitor clinical staff’s documentation on pharmacy care plans for home care patients.
  • Evaluate competency in the use of pharmacokinetic principles and formulas.
  • Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed using appropriate techniques, following company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and participate in on-call responsibilities of the pharmacy department.
  • Manage the use of investigational drug products according to established regulations and company policies.
  • Comply with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements in all activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hiring, recommending, and approving promotions and pay increases.
  • Scheduling, conducting performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current, active Pharmacy license as granted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a clean room or infusion pharmacy setting OR 3 years of experience and one of the following:
    • Knowledge of non-sterile compounding and Medication Therapy Management (MTM).
    • Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency Program.
    • Equivalent experience as approved by the VP of Pharmacy and/or SVP of Clinical Services.
  • At least 3 years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing staff.
  • At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets or completion of an ASHP accredited Residency Program.
  • Experience compounding sterile products and managing patient care.
  • Experience overseeing the purchasing and inventory process of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
  • Access to a reliable means of transportation for home visits; valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle.
  • Active membership in a related state or national clinical, pharmaceutical, or home health care organization.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.

Skills

  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (e.g., document formatting, editing, spell check, track changes).
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (e.g., workbook management, formatting cells, using formulas, charts).
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (e.g., creating slides, inserting tables, running slide shows).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate residency program in clinical pharmacy services.
  • Board certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, or other clinical pharmacy practice area.
  • Experience managing inventory and logistics.
  • At least 5 years of experience compounding sterile products and managing complex infusion patients.
  • At least 3 years of experience overseeing the purchasing and inventory process of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.

Travel Requirements

Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Pay

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Pay range is $109,266.31 - $182,095.50.
