NaphCare is hiring a Pharmacy Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of medical professionals in Torrington, WY, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Wyoming Department of Corrections - Medium Correctional Facility. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

About the role

As a Correctional Pharmacy Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will work alongside correctional staff and other medical professionals to provide quality care to individuals in residence, ensuring all nursing care is performed in compliance with standards and adherence to regulations. You will assist with medication management, patient care, and pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist or other licensed healthcare professional.

Responsibilities

• Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate
• Assist with the preparation and dispensing of medications, including verifying prescriptions and administering medications as prescribed
• Maintain accurate records of medication stock, monitor expiration dates, and assist with ordering and receiving medications
• Gather medication histories, clarify medication orders with patients and healthcare providers, and provide patient education on medication usage and potential side effects
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all medications
• Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas, including sterilization as required
• Stock medication carts

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited LPN program and valid LPN license within the State of WY
• Current Pharmacy Technician certificate/license in WY
• Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication administration, and pharmacy operations
• Attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to patient safety
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand for long periods
• Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
• Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
• Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
