Responsibilities

  • Aid in medication management and patient care
  • Prepare and dispense medications, verify prescriptions, and administer medications as prescribed
  • Maintain accurate records of medication stock, monitor expiration dates, and assist with ordering and receiving medications
  • Gather medication histories, clarify medication orders with patients and healthcare providers, and provide patient education on medication usage and potential side effects
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all medications
  • Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas, including sterilization as required
  • Stock medication carts

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited LPN program and valid LPN license within the State of WY
  • Current Pharmacy Technician certificate/license in WY
  • Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication administration, and pharmacy operations
  • Attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to patient safety
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
  • Ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
