Pharmacy Intern (Retail), PRN

Job Summary

Assists pharmacists in performing a variety of duties related to the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients. Duties include preparing and distributing drugs, supporting pharmaceutical care, and complying with laws and regulations.

Essential Functions

• Obtains supplies, prepares and labels drug orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Calculates and compounds aliquot doses.
• Distributes and/or transports medications to appropriate patient care areas in a timely manner and under a pharmacist's supervision.
• Makes beneficial recommendations for improvements in procedures, guidelines, and continuing education training.
• Maintains inventory levels, stocks shelves, maintains order and cleanliness in assigned areas, and maintains all required records.
• Serves as a good steward of the institution's resources, including time on the job.
• Provides training and participates in the servicing of departmental employees and students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved technician course OR current enrollment or letter of acceptance in a professional academic pharmacy program at an accredited university.
• Experience: Satisfactory progress maintained in the professional academic pharmacy program.

• Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses: Current registration with State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern for team members working in South Carolina.

Corporate and departmental mandatory training

Required annually.
