About the role
The Pharmacy Intern is a student who works in a pharmacy to gain hands-on experience. These individuals work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists and hospital pharmacy managers to ensure that they are performing their job duties correctly.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision of a pharmacist, fills medication orders, prepares routine compounds and solutions (sterile and non-sterile), prepackages medications, stocks and maintains levels of supplies in assigned work area
- Prepares and files documents and other records
- Operates computer and answers telephone/window as needed
- Performs duties of a pharmacist in accordance with rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Pharmacy intern registration with the State Board of Pharmacy is required within 3 months of hire. (PHARM-Intern) Pharmacist - Intern, or (PharmTech) Pharmacy Technician License
- Neatness and Accuracy required
- Six months of hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred
