About the Role
As a pivotal member of the House Rx team, you will work closely with specialty care clinics and the House Rx team to improve the specialty pharmacy experience for oncology patients and their caregivers. This is an on-site role at our HUB office in Pittsburgh, PA. The position has the ability to transition to hybrid after 6 months of consistent great performance, with management approval required.
Responsibilities
- Complete end-to-end prior authorizations for specialty medications
- Source financial assistance on behalf of patients
- Process pharmacy claims
- Coordinate medication dispensing and shipping
- Perform dispensing functions including medication ordering, labeling, and ensuring proper verification is complete
- Improve the patient experience by answering questions and requests
- Act as a liaison between the patient, their provider, and the pharmacist
Requirements
- Mastery of core pharmacy technician skills, such as processing claims and dispensing medications
- Comfort engaging with patients, providers, and all members of the care team both in-person and over the phone
- Experience navigating specialty medication benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance
- Excitement about working in a start-up environment and helping to build workflows and processes from the ground up
- Enjoyment of learning new technologies and proficiency in common pharmacy software systems (QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM, etc.)
- Bonus points for experience with EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, NextGen, etc.) or specialty pharmacy systems (Therigy, Asembia1, ScriptMed, etc.)
- Familiarity with specialty medications, including those used in autoimmune, endocrinology, and oncology; willingness to learn therapeutic areas you are not familiar with
- Creative problem-solving skills with an interest in positively impacting each patient’s pharmacy experience
- Ability to take initiative as an individual contributor while promoting teamwork and collaboration amongst colleagues
- Pharmacy technician, licensed practical nurse, or similar licensure as may be required in the applicable state
- Technician registration or licensure in the State of employment; national certification as CPhT is preferred
