Pharmacist I

About the role

This position is a Contract Pharmacist role based out of Waukegan, IL. The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.

Responsibilities

• Review prescriptions issued by physicians or authorized prescribers to ensure accuracy and determine necessary formulas and ingredients.
• Direct pharmacy staff in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Provide information and answer questions for pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain established procedures for quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
• Enter data such as patient names, prescribed medications, and costs to maintain pharmacy files and inventory.
• Assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
• Instruct interns and other medical personnel on pharmacy-related matters.

Essential Skills

• Licensed in Illinois with the license number on your resume.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a desire to grow and learn.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in retail, mail order, or specialty pharmacy is preferred but not required.
• Comfortable with contractor pay structure.

Work Environment

• Located in a distribution area, requiring candidates to be comfortable standing for extended periods.
• No heavy lifting involved, but may need to push carts weighing up to 30 lbs every few hours.
• The work schedule includes an 8-hour shift, rotating every two weeks, with potential hours between 7:00 am and 7:30 pm.
• The initial training schedule is from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• Overtime is not mandatory but may be offered based on business needs.
• Interaction with patients and providers is not expected initially but may occur in the future.

Pay and Benefits

• The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
