About the role

This position is located in a distribution area, requiring candidates to be comfortable standing for extended periods. While there is no heavy lifting involved, you may need to push carts weighing up to 30 lbs every few hours. The work schedule includes an 8-hour shift, rotating every two weeks, with potential hours between 7:00 am and 7:30 pm. The initial training schedule is from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime is not mandatory but may be offered based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions issued by physicians or authorized prescribers to ensure accuracy and determine necessary formulas and ingredients.
  • Direct pharmacy staff in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide information and answer questions for pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain established procedures for quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enter data such as patient names, prescribed medications, and costs to maintain pharmacy files and inventory.
  • Assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
  • Instruct interns and other medical personnel on pharmacy-related matters.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed in Illinois and include the license number on your resume.
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Able to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow and learn.

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail, mail order, or specialty pharmacy is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable with contractor pay structure.
