About the role
Provides advanced pharmaceutical care under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develops and coordinates clinical pharmacy services and educational programs for the Department.
- Enhances services provided by all staff members through tools and educational opportunities.
- Participates on intra- and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
- Serves as preceptor to pharmacy students and residents as assigned.
- Participates in the development of institution-wide drug use policies.
- Performs duties involving the receiving, storage, compounding, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Assesses patient drug therapy, reviews drug interactions, incompatibilities, drug-induced adverse effects, and appropriate drug doses.
- Documents the care provided to patients.
- Supervises technical staff.
- Reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager.
Requirements
- Advanced degree required (PharmD).
- Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy.
- Current pharmacist license in State of Connecticut.
- Three to five years in-patient pharmacy experience required or completed PGY1 residency.
- Board certification in a pharmacy specialty within the first 3 years of employment required.
- Verbal communication skills with multiple levels of personnel/interdisciplinary teams, with tact and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in compounding, preparing, and dispensing drugs.
- Working knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to drug procurement, storage, dispensing, etc.
- Ability to maintain a collaborative practice relationship with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
