About the role
Atlantic Health is seeking a pharmacist to join our dedicated team. This position involves reviewing patient profiles, transcribing medication orders, dispensing medications, checking unit doses, preparing sterile preparations, and participating in clinical initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Reviews patient profiles to ensure appropriate therapy based on patient-specific information.
- Accurately and timely transcribes medication orders, including specialized orders, verifying therapy, correct medication, route, dose, and frequency.
- Makes recommendations for alternate treatments when necessary.
- Records relevant information and drug waste in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Dispenses medications accurately and promptly, processing requests via phone, window, fax, and computer.
- Ensures medications are placed in automated dispensing machines and floor stock accurately.
- Checks IVs, batched medications, patient-owned medications, repackaged items, and extemporaneous preparations for accuracy.
- Checks crash cart trays, rapid response boxes, and emergency kits for accuracy.
- Prepares, supervises, and ensures aseptic compounding of IVs, including antineoplastic agents, in a timely manner.
- Monitors patients’ therapies and makes appropriate recommendations, converting non-formulary medication requests to appropriate formulary alternatives.
- Provides drug information to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients/family members.
Requirements
Pharmacist Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with PharmD required. Current active registration and licensure with the State of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy required. Previous hospital pharmacy experience (2+ years) preferred.
Qualifications
- PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current active registration and licensure with the State of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
- At least 2 years of previous hospital pharmacy experience.
Skills
Strong knowledge of IV equipment, sterile technique, total parenteral nutrition, and safe handling of hazardous drugs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams.

Pay
