Patient Care Technician I - Full Time, Days 7am-7pm, ED, Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center

About the role

Responsible for assisting doctors/nursing staff in ensuring that the basic needs of each patient are met. Daily tasks might include things like feeding and cleaning the patient or monitoring vital signs and health.

Principal Accountabilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, dressing
• Obtains and records vital signs, weights, and heights
• Ambulates, transfers, discharges, and performs range of motion (ROM) activities
• Performs post-mortem care
• Performs EKGs, phlebotomies, and blood glucose monitoring
• Observes and reports changes in patients' condition to the RN
• Maintains phlebotomy equipment and inventory
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• BLS Certification
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Patient, compassionate nature
• Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
• Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
• EMT certification and/or nursing assistant certification (preferred)
• Prior experience in an Emergency Department (preferred)
