Position Summary

Covenant Oncology Group is part of the region’s largest cancer-fighting network, offering comprehensive medical oncology services and access to clinical trials. This position involves performing functions related to the dispensing of chemotherapy medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in training technicians in levels I and II
• Initiates and coordinates improvement activities
• Aids in the implementation of new projects including policy and procedure development
• Maintains age-specific needs of the oncology population
• Accurately prepares, compounds, and dispenses chemotherapy medications
• Assists pharmacists in preparing compounds and intravenous medications
• Stocks, restocks, and manages chemotherapy medications and supplies
• Reconciles invoices
• Maintains clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets and clean rooms
• Maintains Investigational Drug supply with strict adherence to regulatory requirements
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Completes required education assignments annually
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested

Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience in the storage, handling, and disposal of chemotherapy drugs or two (2) years experience with State approved certification

Skills

• Knowledge of age-specific needs of the oncology population
• Ability to perform calculations for preparing, compounding, and dispensing chemotherapy medications
