About the role

The Advanced Pharmacy Technician position at Peninsula is a full-time role, working 72 hours per pay period, rotating day shifts between 7am-6pm, Monday through Friday. Located in Knoxville and Louisville, this position is part of the outpatient and inpatient pharmacy teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs functions pertaining to the dispensing of medications under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.
• Assists the pharmacist in the training of technicians in levels I and II.
• Initiates and/or coordinates improvement activities as appropriate.
• Aids in the implementation of new projects including the development of policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge and competency in providing for age-specific needs of the population served.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School or equivalent. Post high school vocational/specialized training preferred.
• Minimum Experience: Completion of high school algebra and typing skills required (verify algebra and typing courses in curriculum). Three (3) years experience or two (2) years with State approved certification.
• Licensure Requirement: The Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires newly hired probationary employees to be licensed by the end of their first 90 days of hire and to maintain their Technician License in active status thereafter.
