Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC- Rockford, IL
About the role
This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from military needs such as post-deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. The primary responsibilities include providing full-breadth personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations to service members and their families.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate and conduct a wide variety of Personal Financial Management (PFM) classes and workshops, covering topics relevant to the military lifecycle, including arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events.
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications, as per contract requirements.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information about trends and issues on the installations.
- Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
- If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Driver's license, valid in state, preferred.
- May consider applicants with a combination of education and work experience.

Pay
Salary range: $58,440 - $93,500.
