Person in Charge

About the role
As the Person In Charge, you will oversee the entire store, ensuring all PCC policies and procedures are followed while modeling and providing excellent, professional customer service. You will supervise the front end, including scheduling and job responsibilities for Cashiers, Helper Clerks, Courtesy Clerks, and other staff. This role involves protecting the safety of staff and customers, maintaining store security, and ensuring department sanitation and cleanliness standards are met.

Responsibilities
- Model and provide excellent, professional customer service
- Oversee the entire store to ensure compliance with PCC policies and procedures
- Supervise the front end, including scheduling and managing job responsibilities for Cashiers, Grocery Helper Clerks, Courtesy Clerks, and other grocery staff
- Provide support, training, and coaching to staff
- Handle security issues carefully and responsibly
- Maintain orderly appearance of the register area and ensure department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
- Protect the safety of staff and customers and the security of PCC property
- Handle daily use and troubleshoot problems with equipment while ensuring adherence to store standards
- Cashier when needed
- For closing shifts: count down tills and complete other required tasks
Requirements
- Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
- Availability to work closing shifts, including weekends
- Excellent leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills
- Ability to quickly assess situations and develop creative solutions
- Proficiency in operating an electronic register, including basic math skills, accurate money handling, and 10-key proficiency
- Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Previous retail or public customer contact experience, with a background in cashiering or the retail grocery industry
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting 10-40 lbs regularly
- Current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health (required)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (required if hired; paid for by PCC)
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Starting wage: $32.15/hour
