Responsibilities

• Conduct complex criminal record, mental health, and other document reviews in conjunction with the issuance of concealed handgun permits and registration of sex offenders.
• Provide non‑criminal fingerprinting service for various jobs for citizens of Mecklenburg County and surrounding counties.
• Cross‑trained in processing concealed weapon applications.
• Cross‑trained in Sex Offender Registration.
• Maintain confidentiality of all division information; do not disseminate outside the agency.
• Provide customer service with a cheerful, pleasant, and professional demeanor, demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
• Will be trained in all State and Federal required areas for processing the permits.
• Stand for an 8‑hour shift when assigned to a post.
• Regular and dependable attendance is essential.

Requirements

• Obtain Department of Criminal Justice (DCI) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Obtain a North Carolina Notary Public certification.
• Ability to handle difficult situations discreetly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• One year of specialized or technical training, or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in business, administrative support, or criminal justice.

Skills

• Self‑starter with ability to multi‑task.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Spanish speaking preferred.

Pay

Hourly range: $25.53‑$32.29

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
