Permit Technician

About the Role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a talented and experienced Permit Technician to join our team of professionals. This remote, Texas-based position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.

Responsibilities

• Interface with all customers to service their building department related needs.
• Issue and/or track permits through the permitting process, beginning with application acceptance, plan review, inspections, and permit closure.
• Establish and maintain systems to ensure all files, letters, reference manuals, field inspection reports, permit files, blueprints, drawings, and other data or material are organized.
• Work with plans examiners and inspectors throughout the company to develop and ensure consistent processes.
• Assist with public record requests and record conversion.

Requirements

• 3+ years of Permit Technician experience required.
• 2+ years of municipal experience required.
• ICC Permit Technician certification preferred.
• Must be located in Greater Houston, Texas.

Skills

• Ability to positively interact with staff, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele.
• Experience with the complete billing cycle preferred.
• Strong time management, organization, telephone, attention to detail, and people skills.
• Ability to perform multi-task operations with frequent interruptions.
• Perform duties requiring critical thinking, independent judgment, and technical knowledge.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills and permitting software experience.
• Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
