Core Job Summary
The Per Diem Staff Physician will have clinical responsibilities within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences. The incumbent will serve as an attending physician in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM), with focus on the care and treatment of obstetric patients. This includes inpatient attending responsibilities for the division on inpatient units at Jackson Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
Core Job Functions
- Provide comprehensive high-risk pregnancy care to women, working alongside allied health professionals, specialists, and subspecialists in both the University of Miami/UHealth and Jackson Health Systems.
- Advocate for and educate medical students, residents, and fellows in OB/GYN.
- Develop and carry out a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.
- Perform physical assessments of patients in a logical and respectful manner.
- Prescribe medical treatments and clinical drugs to patients.
- Gather essential and accurate information through the review of pertinent records and interviews with the patient, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals.
- Report hazardous or unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and supply instrument inadequacies to appropriate personnel.
- Report Quality Assurance (QA) incidences, including medication errors, to responsible physician using department guidelines.
- Increase knowledge and expertise by attending continuing educational offerings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Core Qualifications
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology and subspecialty board eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
- Certification and Licensing: Certification in relevant specialty or field required. Active Florida Medical License & DEA Credentialing needed.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Education: MD/DO and be BE/BC in Obstetrics & Gynecology and subspecialty board eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical license.
Department Specific Functions
- Direct care to high-risk pregnancy patients.
- Consultation for hospitalized patients on high-risk pregnancy service.
- Consultation for nonservice unit patients by telephone.
- Inpatient Labor and Delivery (L&D) at Jackson Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
- Required to cover 8-10 shifts per month.
- Use Cerner for documentation and MobileCharge for billing.
Additional Responsibilities
- Part of a team of 30+ faculty members.
- Based at the University of Miami/UHealth and Jackson Health Systems in Miami.
- Work at the Jackson Memorial Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital, which averages 4,000 deliveries a year and has a level 3 NICU.
- Work at the Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial, which has been recognized as an Accreta Center of Excellence and as VBAC Center of Excellence.
