Medical Assistant provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Clerical duties (15%): review doctor's schedule, abstract as needed, print PVS for each patient, request relevant information, prepare and submit patient documents for scanning, monitor assigned in basket and complete work as needed.
  • Patient care (25%): monitor in basket for orders, perform tasks, document observations, room patients, obtain demographic information, verify allergies and vital signs, reconcile medication list, document patient education.
  • Departmental maintenance (10%): monitor supplies, remove and tag broken equipment, clean exam rooms, perform sterilization of instruments, attend staff meetings.
  • QA-Regulatory (10%): complete daily logs, perform accurate documentation, maintain patient confidentiality, practice OSHA safety standards.
  • Customer service (15%): work with patients to achieve excellent customer service, practice mutual respect, demonstrate Kelsey-Seybold's Mission and Values.
  • Financial (5%): demonstrate prudent use of resources, minimize wasteful actions, report need for overtime.
  • Quality improvement (5%): contribute to department and clinic process improvement plans, support initiatives related to meeting AAAHC and other accrediting standards.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED; graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school.
  • Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant or 1+ years of directly related experience as a medical assistant with no Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant.
  • Computer experience, proven ability to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population, proven Basic Medical/Nursing terminology.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Certification within 1+ years of hire date.
  • Ambulatory Care experience.
  • EPIC experience.
  • Proven windows based computer skills.

Pay and Benefits

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
