Position Summary
The Electrophysiology Radiology Technologist supports and assists the EP Cardiologist during Electrophysiology procedures. Duties include preparing the suite and equipment, scrubbing in, operating equipment, assisting with procedures, and post-procedure care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pre-procedure Preparation
- Prepare the Electrophysiology suite and equipment
- Verify patient identification, medical history, and procedure details
- Position patients comfortably and securely on the procedure table
- Provide patient education and address concerns
- Maintain radiation safety and infection control protocols
- Equipment Operation
- Operate fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and other imaging equipment
- Adjust imaging parameters
- Ensure equipment functionality and cleanliness
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Assistance During Procedures
- Scrub procedures and perform post imaging manipulation
- Hand off sterile equipment and supplies
- Monitor patient vital signs and comfort
- Utilize sterile or aseptic technique for insertion and removal of access devices
- Inject contrast agent
- Manage cardiovascular hemodynamics
- Operate ancillary equipment
- Operate cardiac stimulator for ablation procedures
- Circulate within procedure room
- Post-procedure Care
- Transfer patients to recovery areas
- Provide post-procedure care
- Monitor for complications and report findings
- Document procedure details and adverse events
- Collaboration and Communication
- Communicate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other team members
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings
- Establish effective working relationships
- Learn new technical information through in-service programs
- Work Environment and Hazards
- Physical Demands: Medium work (standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling)
- Supervised By: Clinical Coordinator
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $39.45-59.20. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary based on location.
