Per Diem Health Center Nurse

About the role

The position involves providing comprehensive nursing services, participating in health center operations, maintaining records, and educating patients on various health topics. Employees will also perform specialized medical procedures, coordinate paperwork, and manage patient records.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and conducts health assessments
• Provides drive-thru services for testing and/or immunizations
• Absorbs and correlates test and screening results with health history and physical assessment
• Determines and refers to appropriate medical providers based on findings
• Arranges diagnostic testing, specialized medical procedures, and specialty referrals
• Completes necessary paperwork and contacts specialists' offices to schedule appointments
• Assists with specialized medical procedures and obtains authorizations for medical care
• Resolves issues with insurance providers and completes prior authorization requests
• Performs care management between the health center and hospitals, emergency rooms, and other facilities
• Educates patients and caregivers on proper specimen collection and medication administration
• Maintains patient charts and ensures proper documentation of clinic visits, diagnosis, treatments, and medications
• Trades calls or visits from patients and initiates appropriate actions
• Manages vaccine inventory, administers 340B medications, and performs monthly checks of ER bag supplies

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Two years of nursing experience, preferably in a physician’s office or similar setting
• Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
• Effective communication skills to engage and interact with all individuals
