About the role
Health Services is seeking a Per Diem Dietitian to support the health and well-being of SJSU students through nutrition assessment, education, counseling, and medical nutrition therapy. The position also collaborates with healthcare providers and campus partners and co-leads the Disordered Eating Care Coordination Team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nutritional assessments and develop, evaluate, and monitor individualized plans of care
- Provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and counseling
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health counselors, and other Student Wellness Center professionals
- Serve as a nutrition and dietetics resource for the campus community
- Co-lead the Disordered Eating Care Coordination Team
- Participate in outreach, health promotion, campus events, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of a wide range of medical nutrition therapy for special medical conditions
- General awareness of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and a willingness to develop skills in their appropriate, responsible, and ethical use in a higher education environment, consistent with institutional policies and practices
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary health care teams to address specific diet and nutrition needs
- Knowledge of general principles, methods, materials, and resources for nutrition education and public information
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment
- Knowledge of assessment, intervention, and evaluation of nutritional status with appropriate care plans established to improve outcomes
- Ability to use a full range of general nutrition counseling skills in performing the duties of the position
- Ability to use a broad range of computer skills and software, including familiarity with medical charting
- Ability to apply judgment and discretion to analyze appropriately and take effective action with tact
- Ability to promote, organize, and facilitate group meetings
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition programs and materials
- Knowledge with outpatient eating disorder treatment, evidence, and protocols
- Effective communication across a variety of venues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a program approved and accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Possess and maintain certification as a Registered Dietitian as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited pre-professional experience program
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess certification as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist
- Experience working with a higher education population
- Experience providing nutritional counseling for clients with disordered eating and/or managing eating disorders
- At least three years of clinical experience providing nutrition assessment, education, counseling, and medical nutrition therapy
Pay
Anticipated hiring range: $60.15/hour. CSU salary range: $27.39/hour – $100.10/hour.
